These wiggling worms are Sago Worm (locally known as Butod), the larvae of the weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus). Though they look like disgusting giant maggot, they are clean and rich in protein. Sabah people consider Butod a delicacy and it's a hot selling item in open native market. Each worm costs about RM1 (or US$0.30). More:
