Though Mabul Island is near to Sipadan Island, it's not as famous as this world-class dive site. However, Mabul is excellent for muck diving and a dream land for underwater photographers, because you can find many unusual and rare critters living here. Just to list some, flamboyant squid, pygmy seahorse, nudibranch, frogfishes, and jawfish.
Sighting of large marine creatures such as turtles, eels, manta ray, giant grouper, and leopard shark is not uncommon in Mabul.
