【本報訊】罕見病小胖威利症（Prader-Willi syndrome）的病者，猶如被卡比獸上身一般，不斷狂食而不知飽，又會覺得累極了想睡，其實這病與遺傳基因有莫大關係。港大醫學院兒童及青少年科學系臨床副教授鍾侃言指出，病因是由於第15對染色體長臂第一三段位置(15q13)，缺乏了來自爸爸的某些基因，發病率為一萬至三萬分之一，本港現有80多名患者。病者有機會因肥胖引起併發症如睡眠窒息症、糖尿病、血壓高、血脂高等問題，嚴重者可致命。
