【本報訊】1989年六四事件後，時任新華社香港分社社長（相當於現中聯辦主任）許家屯翌年出逃美國引起轟動，英國檔案處最新解密檔案披露，1991年新華分社經濟部長陳哲生亦出逃法國，是繼許家屯後出逃的新華分社最高級官員。當時新華分社發現陳失蹤，曾要求港英政府協助找出其去向，時任港英布政司霍德研判陳「顯然已出逃」，拒向新華分社透露出入境紀錄，事件最終不了了之。
