内政部自1月5日起关闭西马地区所有提供免费服务的客工更新准证柜台，转而要雇主使用收费的MyEG线上服务，引起众怒。移民厅在1月23日宣布，重新开放免费柜台到2月28日，至于2月28日后会有什么决定，则‘视情况而定’。
