农业部部长末沙布促请人民，切勿听信将发生米荒的谣言而恐慌性购买（panic buy），并保证下个月还有本地米。

末沙布今早在布城的记者会受询时表示，由于近来全球进口白米价格上涨，导致原本购买进口米的消费者转向购买本地米。

末沙布指出，部分甘榜区甚至出现为屯积白米而恐慌抢购，以致供不应求。

他因此呼吁人民，根据各自家庭根据需求购买，不要屯积，因为白米屯久了也坏掉。
