早前食衛局向立法會提交文件，建議加強電子煙及其他新煙草規管，被指是「大倒退」，香港醫學專科學院聯同兩間大學的醫學院和香港醫學會倡議全面禁止電子煙及新煙草產品，指產品禍害與傳統煙差別不大，不應把其「常態化」，強調醫學界就此是不會妥協。
