巫统针对财长林冠英向中文媒体发布中文文告的举动，质疑财政部忽视马来文作为国文的地位。但是首相马哈迪却认为，这只是小事一桩。
马哈迪说，“这是小事，我不要小事化大。有时我们会犯错。”
“我认为应该要有三语（文告），但对中文读者，（文告）就应该是中文的，就这样而已。”
马哈迪也认为不会就此劝告林冠英。
