電子支付在中國非常普及，光顧菜檔、小販，甚至遇上乞丐，掏出手機，掃一掃付款條碼，銀包也不用拿出來。反觀香港雖不乏支付平台，卻始終未成氣候，因此有人感慨發展落後於中國，但有電子商貿教授及程式設計師卻不認同此看法。
