巫统署理主席末哈山在面子书邀请首相马哈迪，在伊斯兰原则下与国阵和伊党组织新政府，不过马哈迪明确拒绝了末哈山的建议。
马哈迪在国会走廊受询时表示，“我们无意要这么做。”
“我们知道我国是多元种族国家，政府自独立至今，内阁都有不同种族的成员。这是一个我们无法否认的事实。”
