舞台上的華麗服飾、電視劇的歷史戲服，原來設計方式與時裝截然不同，需考慮演員換衫時間及歷史背景。香港知專設計學院觀察近年本地話劇、演唱會及主題公園均有演藝服裝需要，將開設演藝造型設計高級文憑課程。學院並設立時裝資料館，收集逾千套來自各地的服裝，包括英國已故戴安娜王妃曾穿過的晚裝、伊利沙伯時期的仿古服飾、以牛血染色的苗族祭祀服等，供學生查閱服裝資料。
