著名導演馮小剛早前在政協會議小組討論中建議恢復部份有文化含義的繁體字，引起了不少一直使用繁體字的香港人共鳴，但其實近年大陸已逐漸有人提出要「廢簡復繁」。早在2009年，曾到日本留學工作的全國政協委員潘慶林向「兩會」提交廢除簡體字恢復使用繁體字的提案，建議用10年時間恢復使用繁體字。
