【本報訊】舊中環街市今年第3季將開始活化，市建局計劃徹底改變街市用途，活化後大樓將提供「文化及零售」空間。研究香港歷史的香港「城市日記」策展人黎穎詩近期翻查文獻，在1842年5月出版的《香港憲報》頭版，發現第一代中環街市落成開幕消息，比清政府與英國同年8月簽署《南京條約》更早。她指，中環街市地皮一直為街市，冀市建局的保育計劃，盡可能保留相關社會功能。
