以「蜻蜓天堂」聞名、生態保育價值僅次米埔的沙螺洞，11年來第7度遭破壞。今年10月，有人鏟走沙螺洞張屋附近農地上的植被，並抽乾濕地，面積有一個12人足球場大，目前一片荒蕪，寸草不生。有村民聲稱開墾該地，並發展有機耕種，開拓商機。環團 質疑其動機，促政府將沙螺洞土地全部列入郊野公園範圍，加強保育。
