中港台近年不時都發生嚴重的跌落樓梯意外。去年2月一名22歲大專女學生在油麻地一連鎖快餐店吃飯後落樓梯時，疑突然暈倒滾下樓梯一度命危；今年1月，台灣水泥董事長辜成允在台北一酒店參加喜宴時更因在樓梯跌倒撞傷後腦，經兩天搶救後終告不治。
