首相马哈迪访日时透露要再办国产车引来前首相纳吉强烈批评。纳吉在面子书炮轰马哈迪以国债为由取消捷运计划，却再办国产车。
他点出，“重新推行保护政策，以高昂车价与融资，将加剧人民负担。”
纳吉自认在位时成功降低车价并提高公共交通的使用率，以解决前任留下来的“老问题”。
纳吉也认为，希盟政府不该认为捷运和高铁都是前朝政府的计划而一一腰斩。
