'13 Reasons Why' Releases POWERFUL First Trailer For Netflix Series

The trailer introduces us to the main characters and the show’s dark subject matter of teenage suicide. It’s definitely not a light comedy, but one look at this trailer and we’re absolutely hooked...
As you can gather from the trailer, 13 Reasons Why will follow the story of teenager Hannah Baker, who has recently committed suicide and left behind 13 cassette tapes, all addressed to the 13 peers whose actions contributed to her decision to take her own life. The series is based on a book of the same name, which Selena Gomez read and loved, hence her decision to wear a producer’s hat and help bring the story to life.
Okay, I’m officially hooked. The show’s creator and other producer, Brian Yorkey, said that when it came to tackling with the heavy material of teenage suicide, the show would be QUOTE, "clear-eyed and brutally honest about the pain of suicide... First and foremost we were telling a story about the pain and why that should be avoided at all costs." Clearly all of the producers, including Selena, put a lot of thought into the tone of the show and how to deal with depicting such dramatic and painful events, so we’ll definitely be tuning in on March 31st.
