根据教育部公布的入学数据，华小在过去10年逐渐受到非华裔家长，尤其是巫裔家长的欢迎，如今全国华小中，有百分之15学生是马来人。
数据显示，2010年至2020年之间，选择在华小就读的巫裔学生增加了百分之6.18；相较于10年前，华小的印裔学生则增加了百分之1.08，其他族群的学生增加0.65%。可是，今年报读华小的华裔学生对比起2010年减少了百分之7.9。这可能意味着两件事——更少华裔家长把孩子送到华小，或华小已变得更多元。
