Law Minister Datuk Liew Vui Keong explained on Tuesday that death sentences cost more than life sentences where it would cost the Government RM1,975 to hang an inmate on death row and RM800 to bury the body if not claimed.
Meanwhile, Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran, who is advocating the abolition of the death penalty, said revising the mandatory death row sentence would not result to an increase in crime rate.
