青体部部长赛沙迪今早在国会会议上向议长阿里夫撤回了18岁投票的修宪案。
首相马哈迪在较后的记者会表示，撤回的原因是为了再增加两项条文，包括了18岁者能自动成为选民以及拥有成为候选人权利。
马哈迪也指出，在野党议员都承诺会在增加条文后支持修宪。
马哈迪直言有信心得到三分之二的支持，并开玩笑道，“他们(在野党议员)不至于骗我吧。”
