96-Year-Old Athlete Smashes Sprinting Records

A 96-YEAR-OLD sprinter has rolled back the years by setting a new British record in the 100 and 200 metres. Dr Charles Eugster ran a time of 23.78 seconds in the M-95 (males aged 95 or over) category at the British Masters at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, on Saturday July 25. He then followed that up with a record-breaking 57.27 seconds in the 200m on the Sunday - 0.8 seconds faster than his time last year. The high-octane OAP already holds the world record in the M-95 category for 200m indoors, which he set at the British Masters Championships in Lee Valley earlier this year and bettered in Poland at the European Championships.
