Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali told Malaysiakini that the government will not make a claim for the luxury yacht, Equanimity, which was seized in Bali by Indonesian police at the request of U.S. authorities, probing alleged money laundering at 1MDB. In August 2017, the US Department of Justice asked for a stay on its civil lawsuits seeking to seize more than US$1.7bil in assets allegedly bought with stolen 1MDB funds as it was conducting a related criminal probe. Among the assets sought is Equanimity, cited as a US$250mil luxury yacht bought by Malaysian financier Jho Low, named as a key figure in the U.S. lawsuits.
