This video takes you to one of the oldest corners of Kuala Lumpur, at Jalan Panggung(Theatre Road), where the national theatre was located. There you will find a voluntary soup kitchen organization called Dapur Jalanan (Side walk kitchen) that has made this their usual gathering ground . Their choice of site is also to highlight the heritage in the vicinity. For example, there is a post office here that is over a hundred years old. Dapur Jalanan has been serving the hungry and needy in the city since 2013. They have similar outfits doing the same thing in Ipoh, Penang and Kota Kinabalu and are all manned by caring volunteers.Their belief is that food is a basic human right. Just look at the queue, some of them regulars, and they know of this spot for years. What is served is drinks and food, basic to some but this means a lot to those who haven't had a meal in days.
