Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim affirmed the importance of absolute freedom for the media in the country.
During his address at the 2023 National Journalists' Day (Hawana) celebration on Sunday, he encouraged media professionals to maintain their critical stance towards his administration without resorting to self-censorship.
Anwar emphasised his disapproval of the previous practice of venerating those in power while suppressing opposition voices, urging the press to provide equal space for all perspectives to be expressed.
