Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin said he felt proud to be called “Father of MCO” because the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) during his time as prime minister had saved many lives from Covid-19.

"(Opposition leader) Anwar Ibrahim said I'm the ‘Father of MCO’ but he didn't realise that if during that time I didn't implement the MCO, many more lives would have been lost due to Covid-19."

He added that Malaysia's vaccine rollout plan was much faster than other countries in the region, and his government offered aid to make sure there was food on the table for the people when economic sectors were temporarily shut down.
