My girl Ariana Grande hosted SNL tonight and it was everything and more. Her opening monologue was comedic gold with sarcasm live and well. And then she sang a song specifically NOT about Feminism. I’ll explain.
We all know Ariana can act & sing so SNL could not have been a more perfect match for her skill set.
Ariana’s opening monologue had me on the floor. She explained, jokingly of course, that she’s reached a place in her career where it’s time to be caught in a real life adult scandal to really catapult her career to the next level. Check it out:
She has a point. Why not do something wild to change your image? A little donut lickin’ never hurt anybody. She even gave some credible examples of stars who’ve walked on the wild side to get people talking like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. Look what it did for their careers! Ariana went on to name more ways she could stir up a scandal including trashing a hotel room, letting diet pills scramble her brain, smoking some illegal substances on a plane, or by having a love child with Drake or 2 Chains. It rhymed quite nicely. And again guys, in case you missed it the first time, she was KIDDING.
The comedic gold went platinum when Ariana teamed up with the ladies of SNL for a woman’s anthem music video that took an unexpected turn.
They were of course making light of the fact that it’s hard to put forth a message that is all encompassing because there is always the likelihood that someone’s going to feel left out so they confidently said QUOTE – “This is not a feminist song. So technically, it can’t be wrong.”
Amazing. So what did you guys think of Ariana’s opening monologue and song that wasn’t about feminism?
