And if you didn’t know, well you’re about to know, because Ari’s kickass feministic fierceness has just reached all new heights and she’s only just begun.
It was only a year ago that Ariana Grande broke headlines when she penned an essay about dating rumors and sexism within the industry, and she’s not only touching back on the subject, but girl has just gone full throttle, giving even more in-depth insight into the double standards she faces as a public figure and as a woman in general.
Although Ari is not ashamed to admit she’s a feminist, she’s revealing her thoughts on the stigma of the word feminist, saying QUOTE, “A lot of women think of the stereotype that comes with the word ‘feminist.’ But there's not just one type of feminist. You can be a feminist who gets their hair and make-up done, you can be a feminist who cuts their hair off and doesn't wear any make-up. Who has lots of sex or who doesn't. There's no limit."
She then went into detail about the industry’s double standards of women and men, revealing, “When a young male artist posts a shirtless picture on Instagram the comments will be like ‘Oh my God, heart eyes, so hot, babe alert!’ Like, whatever. If a woman posts a suggestive photo or anything that expresses her own sexuality or confidence within her body, it's a very different response."
Ari even revealed that beyond her interviews and essays, she’s taking her personal experiences with misogyny and sexism to her music. One of her songs off her highly anticipated album ‘Dangerous Woman’ called “Bad Decisions’ contains the lyric, “Ain’t you ever seen a princess be a bad bitch?” to wich she revealed that this line is, in fact, personal, also adding, “I feel like people are always constantly trying to pin me down as a good girl or a bad girl but I think women can be whatever, and me too.”
And I just gotta say, I’m loving that stars like Ariana are putting their celebrity to good use and shedding light on much bigger problems within the industry, and as if we weren’t already excited enough for the release of her new album come May 20th, the anticipation has reached a record-breaking high, so why not keep going on this subject, and let me know all your thoughts on Ari’s interview with Grazia and you can do all that right down here in the comments section or just tweet me @miriamisa and after that, click right over here to watch Ariana SLAY her RDMA performance of “Dangerous Woman”.
