Barbie is coming to theatres in the form of a live-action comedy!! I don't know about you, but this is pretty amazing news for me and my childhood dreams are coming true... as long as that "real-life Barbie" person who says she wants to live off of light and air alone like Barbie is not cast as the famous fashion doll. And before we even get to the production details, who oh who could take on the iconic role?!? Hmm... well, if you've ever heard the "scientific findings" of what's Barbie's measurements would be if she were human sized, I'd have to say NO ONE CAN BE CAST. At 6'0 and 100 pounds, I don't have to tell you that it's just not possible... so based solely on looking similar to the doll and comedic thunder and without even taking into consideration that Barbie was originally a 17 year old teenage - what about Brittany Snow, or Kristen Dunst or a blonde Katie Price? Something tells me that Miley would want to don a blonde wig again, even if for the iconic role of Barbie. Or what about Halston Safe or Brooklyn Decker? Or what about Rachel McAdams, Ariana Grande or Taylor Swift?? Or hey- Mattel, I could totally play Barbie! *A few more choices could be Ashley Benson, Deborah Ann Woll, Blake Lively, Nicola Peltz -- those last few are guesses from our friends at ClevverMovies! So bringing it back to the movie scoop, like I mentioned, Sony is set to create a live-action comedy based on the popular personality that's now been around for more than 50 years. Thanks to Deadline, we hear that the script is already in the works and the studio hopes to start production before the end of 2014. The story goes that Mattel has been a bit resistant to giving over rights to create a Barbie movie -- and for good reason, it's reportedly a 3-billion dollar per year empire... so according to Deadline, Mattel invited a small group of producers to pitch Barbie films, and clearly, Sony won out, and this is actually the second film that the two companies are working on together -- Barbie follows Masters of the Universe. Alright, so how do you feel about this news?? And who in Hollywood would play the perfect Barbie?? Don't forget that this live-action flick is set to be a COMEDY -- very important when casting your top pick. Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
