Electoral watchdog Bersih 2.0 today called upon the Election Commission and Federal Government to amend the existing regulations outlining the framework for absentee voting.
Bersih highlighted that the difficulties in the system that require voters to return to their home constituencies is a major obstacle to voting rights and results in a lower voter turnout.
With an estimated 150,000 voters from Sabah and Sarawak living in West Malaysia, Bersih wants to have the postal voting system replaced by absentee voting.
