Once you eat the first smoked shrimp (Udang Salai), you can't stop eating this tasty little snack. Smoked shrimp is crispy and savoury with aroma of BBQ (I think it goes well with beer).
Smoked shrimp is the special product of Kampung Sambah, a water village in Tenghilan, Tuaran (Sabah, Malaysia), surrounded by dense mangrove forest and abundant with seafood. As the name implied, the villagers dry and smoke the fresh shrimps over a burning wood. You won't see this on sale in supermarket because Udang Salai is produced in small quantity and sold out fast.
