If you’ve been itching for new Beyonce music, well itch no more because your wish has been granted. A remix to J Balvin and Willy William’s hit “Mi Gente” dropped yesterday and it features none other than my queen. Beyonce made the announcement on instagram along with a short teaser slideshow with the caption saying QUOTE – “I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands. To help go to Beyonce.com/reliefefforts.”
And aside from the whole charitable aspect of it, my favorite part of B’s feature is that she sings in Spanish.
Flawless. This isn’t the first time she has released a song in Spanish, In 2016, she did a remix of “Irreplaceable” in Spanish and it has become one of my favorite Beyonce songs.
In “Mi Gente,” she also sings in English and makes some dope references to the twins and Jay-Z.
Speaking of the man who made an album about her, Jay-Z’s Tidal streaming service announced that it will be starting its own initiative to bring supplies to Puerto Rico. Leaving Oct. 7, a cargo plane will carry 200,000 pounds of batteries, flashlights, portable lanterns, diapers, baby wipes, cases of water and feminine hygiene products to Puerto Rico. Tidal also asked their users to step up and donate unopened supplies to 19 locations in New York for future deliveries. Additionally, Tidal is having a benefit concert on October 17th to raise money for the hurricane relief with a number of your faves slated to take the stage including Jay himself, Fat Joe, Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, Cardi B, Remy Ma, Daddy Yankee, Yo Gotti, Fifth Harmony, Iggy Azalea and Willow Smith.
But I want to know what you guys think of Beyonce’s feature on Mi Gente so let me know in the comment section below and don’t forget to subscribe. Thanks for watching Clevver News, I’m your host Drew Dorsey and I’ll see you next time. Click left to hear the acoustic version of Camila Cabello’s “Havana.” This episode is brought to you by T-Mobile. Now T-Mobile family plans include Netflix at no extra charge.
