Billie Eilish is at the top of the music game -- I mean, six American Music Award nominations as a first time nominee? Come on! But is Billie ready to give it all up at the ripe old age of 17?
What’s up guys it’s Emile Ennis Jr. here with Clevver News and we have some to tea to discuss because Billie Eilish is questioning not only her future in the industry, but also her love for music in general after a few rough tours.
I KNOW SHOCKING!
This was all revealed during her ‘Musicians on Musicians’ interview with Rolling Stone. Billie sat down with another Billie, Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong -- which was incredible, by the way, more on that in a minute -- and the two mused over their respective careers.
When asked about new music, The Bad Guy singer opened up telling the magazine: “[My next album] haunts me.” And take a listen to what she says next:
Now, she did clarify saying she didn’t mean performing. She said “The shows are always my favorite part. This last tour I went on was the first I’ve ever enjoyed. I feel like I have this amazing thing that now I actually see.”
Yeah… we see it too! Billie looks like she’s having the time of her life on stage during her “When We All Fall Asleep’ tour with thousands of screaming fans jumping along with her! But to be fair, the road HAS been a bit rough for the young singer. We get why touring can be hard.
First of all, Billie has been injured on tour TWICE this year. You probably noticed the singer sporting an ankle boot at several shows the last few months -- it was super obvious in her now legendary performance on SNL in September.
Still can’t get over those special effects on that by the way.
That injury was actually from a show Billie performed in Italy at the end of August. When it happened on stage, the pain was so severe, the singer cried and ran off stage.
UM YEAH I WOULD TOO!
BUT Like the bad B she is, Billie returned to finish her performance and told her supportive fans what happened.
Injuring both legs in less than a month is no joke, and it’s obviously taken a toll on the young singer’s love for touring.
Not to mention, Billie’s dealt with some wild fan encounters on the road too. Remember when her ring went missing during a show a few weeks ago?
She was performing at Austin City Limits earlier this month and went down into the crowd during ‘Ocean Eyes,’ which fans LOVED. But when she got back on stage, Billie revealed her ring was gone.
Ok, this story actually has a happy ending. Against all odds, the ring -- a faux diamond encrusted band-- was returned! This is actually crazy!
Twitter detectives accused a woman in the crowd of STEALING the ring right off Billie’s finger. You can see her talking to a security guard in this video:
TMZ tracked down the fan who claimed she didn’t steal the ring, but retrieved it in hopes of giving it back to the singer. She said she gave it to a concert staff member and went on her way.
Well, looks like she was telling the truth because low and behold, Billie instagramed the safe return of her ring! “Thank youuuuuuu to whoever turned it in,” she wrote.
Ok, happy ending aside, we CAN see how life on the road has its challenges. But enough hardship to want to give up music entirely?
We certainly hope not, because despite dealing with frustrating injuries and overzealous fans, Billie seems to REALLY love and appreciate music, and not just her own. Listen to how she gushes over her musical influences in the Rolling Stone interview.
See? I told you we’d come back to that.
And of course, Billie got to fawn over one of her idols while sitting right NEXT him -- Talk about an amazing moment! The two Billies bonded over the challenges of the music industry and touring, and you can really see how much Billie looks up to someone who’s taken this path before her.
Ok but now we want to hear from you…
Billie is clearly having a tough time touring, but do you think this could REALLY delay new music from the singer?
Or worse… make her give it up altogether?
And perhaps more importantly, does anybody else now want a Billie/Billie collab here? We’re thinking a little Green Day/Billie Eilish would be AMAZING! Please tell us we’re not alone here!
