Dance producer Bilqis Hijjas has once again been acquitted of the charge of insulting behaviour likely to cause a breach of peace.
Bilqis had been charged over an Aug 31, 2015 incident, in which she tossed three balloons onto a function being attended by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur shopping centre.
The words “free media,” “democracy,” and “justice” were written on the balloons.
Bilqis was once again acquitted of the charge by Kuala Lumpur magistrate Muhamad Faizal Ismail.
Muhamad Faizal said that her testimony was consistent with her previous claim that she merely wanted to highlight the principles of the Federal Constitution to the prime minister through her actions.
In addition, witnesses’ testimonies and CCTV showed that the event continued without a hitch and that Bilqis and surrendered quietly when confronted by security personnel.
