Congratulations are in order for Cara Delevingne – she just scored herself a MAJOR movie role! Yes, the model whose eyebrows are the envy of every woman on earth will flex her acting muscles in Paper Towns, aka the highly-anticipated follow up to John Green’s mega-hit The Fault In Our Stars.
Taking to Twitter, John confirmed the casting news saying this:
“VERY EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! @Caradelevingne will play Margo Roth Spiegelman in the Paper Towns movie.” John also added: “Cara Delevigne's audition blew everyone away (including me!) and she understands Margo profoundly. I am so excited!” What?! A super model can act?! My mind is blown. John then added “I should probably learn to spell Cara’s surname at some point.” Give up on it. I’ve been trying for a year.
Cara also couldn’t help but gush about nabbing the role, tweeting to both John and the film’s director: “Thank you so much guys!! I am so excited! Ahhhh! X”
And just in case you haven’t read the book yet, allow me to give you a 10 second breakdown.
Paper Towns centers on a high school senior named Q who shared a traumatic childhood experience with his next door neighbor, Margo when they both found the body of a man who had committed suicide. The two grow apart over the years, but she randomly shows up at his window one night dressed as a ninja. She tries to enlist him on an unforgettable night of revenge. However, Margo disappears without a trace the next day. So, it’s up to Q and his friends to figure out what the heck happened.
Oh, and PS, Q will be played by Natt Wolff, who we’re sure you know played Isaac in The Fault in Our Stars. Keeping with the theme of a mini- reunion, the screenwriters behind tfios will be working on Paper Towns as well. However, they’re switching things up with the director Jake Schreier who was behind the sleeper hit Robot & Frank.
As for Cara, this actually isn’t her first foray into the acting world. Cara had a role in the 2012 period drama Anna Karenina, in addition to a part in the 2014 film The Face of an Angel. I think she might kill it as Margo, but only time will tell. So mark those calendars because Paper Towns hits theaters on July 31, 2015. What do YOU think of this casting news?
