Chrissy Teigen, John Mayer, Joe Jonas, these are just a few celebs who’ve fallen deep into the Pokemon abyss, but hey, can you blame them? Pikachu is literally too cute to resist.
Pokemon Go was just released not too long ago in a few countries and the obsession is already too real. Those who have access to the app are already spending more time outside, but some people, like Joe Jonas for example, have already expressed their willingness to travel across the land to search far and wide for the ultimate Pokemon. The singer tweeted QUOTE, “Rumor has it Mew2 is at Area 51 … Road trip anyone?” No word yet if Joe was actually serious about that offer because if he is, count me in!
Even Chrissy, who’s busy being a super mom couldn’t resist checking out the game. The new mom wrote in a series of tweets, “Can I catch Pokemon in Italy? Am I too old to catch Pokemon?” at one point, the model expressed her doubts about playing and tweeted QUOTE, “A girl was trying to catch a pokemon and found a body in a river instead so I don’t know about this.” Chrissy eventually signed up for the game, but her obsession lasted about a day before she tweeted, “I’m over Pokemon. Please let’s pretend I never played and I never bought hundreds of pounds in incense.”
Chrissy may have been able to resist the power of Pokemon AFTER signing up for it, but some of her other celebrity peers weren’t too lucky. The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah fell into the mobile game’s trap and just had to venture out like the rest of the world to find a couple of adorable pocket monsters. He tweeted, “No ma’am, I was not taking video of your child, I came to this park to catch Pokemon.” While Trevor managed to find some pokemon on land, Dylan Sprouse, however, decided to venture out into the water and revealed he almost risked his life trying to catch a Poliwag. Hopefully he was just joking about that, but hey, you just gotta do what you gotta do to catch ‘em all.
Some celebs may be venturing outside by themselves, but How To Get Away With Murder’s Jack Falahee managed to find a friend to go on Pokemon adventures with. He tweeted, “When @AvanJogia texts you to plan a Pokemon/dog play date. Also, Mario Kart?” I have a feeling these two won’t really have time for Mario Kart, PokemonGo already takes up more than enough time in a day!
Hotties like Nyle DiMarco and Colton Haynes also joined in on the fun. Colton shared a meme on his Instagram page of a Pikachu sitting on a Pokeball with the words ‘I came in like a pokeball…all I wanted was to catch them all…’ written around the picture while Nyle revealed to his thousands of followers on Twitter that he QUOTE, “Just caught my very first Pokemon Go: Bulbasaur.” And John Mayer made us all jealous by posting a picture of his in-app purchase of 14,500 PokeCoins. So jells.
Welp, this is just the beginning of the return of the Pokemon craze. Just remember when you’re out hunting, stay aware of your surroundings! And maybe, just maybe, if you pay enough attention, you might just find a celeb or two. Happy hunting!
