This video records a sad end to the heritage row of five shops at KL's Chinatown Jalan Sultan that was burnt to ashes on an early Saturday morning on Feb 4th 2017. It took 37 firemen to end the fire but what is evidently lost cannot be calculated in financial terms because the century old shops have been a true heritage of KL's Chinatown . Those of you who are familiar or have been to this famous part of KL would have recalled these two-storey wooden shops with colonial style facades. You would have passed by the new-day internet café, a 24-hr laundry, an old-style coffee shop and, most of all, the aviary /pet shop ! Yes, they are all gone! In fact, sadly all the birds in the aviary/pet shop are gone, except for a few surviving ones which the shop operator have freed free. Where would they go even being free? This place has been home to many birds and pets for ages. Everyone who has been here will remember the endless chirpings of these birds from even across the road.
We hope this iconic row of shops will eventually be restored by the city council to its old glory soon! Watch out for more by subscribing to this video channel rightaway!
