A commotion erupted in the Dewan Rakyat when Sany Hamzan (PH-Hulu Langat) claimed that the opposition was politicising the 'bah ku teh' issue.

Mohd Misbahul Munir Masduki (PN-Parit Buntar) argued that he was only clarifying the 'halal' status of the soup dish and wanted an explanation.

Meanwhile, Ipoh Timur MP Howard Lee interjected to explain the meaning of the Hokkien word 'Bak'.
