Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is banned for life from the NBA, and is being fined $2.5 million dollars after an audio tape of him making racist comments was released. The announcement was made on Tuesday April 29 by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who referred to Donald's words in the audio tape as "deeply offensive," and "hateful." In case you weren't aware, over the weekend an audio recording of a conversation Donald had with his former girlfriend V Stiviano was released, featuring an argument that V recorded and then later released, all stemming from a photo V shared of herself on Instagram with former L.A. Lakers player Magic Johnson. Many speculated what kind of action would be taken -- if any -- against Donald, since this situation is certainly unchartered territory within the NBA. There had been much speculation as to what would happen, but it looks like the NBA has made up their mind. Donald bought the team back in 1981, and his 32 year ownership of the team is the longest in the NBA's history. Despite this situation, the Clippers players have remained strong, as they all removed their jerseys while warming up for a game on Sunday, with the Miami Heat following suit to show their solidarity. The Clippers are set to take on the Golden State Warriors at L.A.'s Staples Center on Tuesday night for a playoff game. It's safe to say fans will be glad there has been some resolve to this situation. I'm your host Joslyn Davis, thanks for tuning into Clevver News.
