Coffee-Filled Donuts Are REAL & Here's Where You Can Get Them

A bakery in Australia has created a coffee cup doughnut, and yes--it is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a donut hollowed out and turned into a vessel for delicious, velvety espresso. I’m sorry if I just turned you on in a very real way, but trust me when I say I’m right there with you.
A barista named Fernando Santi--wow is it me or is that just the most barista-y sounding name ever?!--Anyway, he invented the coffee cup donut at the Kenilworth Bakery in Australia. The pastry is a hollowed-out, cinnamon-dusted doughnut. In order for it to hold the coffee, the hole is lined with Nutella, that’s right, NUTELLA, and then filled with a shot of espresso, steamed milk, and a touch of foam.
The coffee cup donut costs around six American dollars--plus a ticket to Australia, cuz unfortunately they can’t ship these babies. And if you’re not a huge coffee drinker, there’s also a hot-chocolate filled-version. So obviously now that this exists, we have three options: 1) Go to the Kenilworth Bakery in Australia. 2) Beg your local coffee shop to learn how to make this and put it on their menu, or 3) make a coffee cup donut at home, by buying a donut, scooping it out, lining it with Nutella, and then pouring a shot of espresso and milk from your local coffee shop into the donut.
On second thought, all of those options sound way too complicated and expensive, so I’m just gonna be old school and keep dunking my donuts into my coffee until the real thing goes international.
