Former Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said he would love for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to rejoin Umno as he thinks both Umno and PAS are the two main Malay-based parties.
He said history has shown that splinter parties will fail and that Umno and PAS must work together to win back the seats lost because of splits in Malay votes.
Last Friday, Dr Mahathir made a call to Umno members to join Bersatu since political division among the Malays was growing.
