Cops Crash 2018 BET Awards Pre-Show During LIVE Broadcast

If you watched the BET Awards live pre-show, there’s a good chance you may have caught a seemingly unscripted moment shortly before the actual awards show began and let’s just say… it was awkward.
While pre-show hosts Terrence J and Cassie were conducting interviews, a cop appeared onscreen, obstructing the view of the hosts and asking the production crew to move and shut down the set. In that moment, it seemed like everyone was caught off guard, including the hosts, making for a very, well, uncomfortable situation.
Live on screen, Terrence addressed the cop directly asking if he knew that they were live on television, and when the cop didn’t seem to care, he passed the issue off to what appeared to be a member of their own production or security team. Luckily, it was towards the end of the broadcast so it didn’t make much of an impact on the show.
Still, it didn’t take long for confused viewers to sound off on social media about the incident. One person wrote, QUOTE, “Can somebody tell my why the cops had 2 shut down the red carpet?” with another person adding, QUOTE, “I heard the cops just shut down the BET awards carpet......”
While this very well could’ve been a random incident, some viewers were not totally convinced, taking to social media expressing confusion about whether this was a staged statement against police. One person tweeted, “He can't be a real cop lol no belt, no Gun etc I bet you that Brother is an Actor or Comedian.” Another person chimed in saying, QUOTE, “If the cops weren’t real ‪@BET‬‬‬ should be ashamed.”
