Crazy Rich Asians SEQUEL Already in the Works?!

The band is getting back together!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you’ve seen or at least heard of the latest rom-com to hit the box office; CRAZY RICH ASIANS! This movie has broken records you guys. It is the first major studio movie to feature an all Asian & Asian American cast since 1993! And last week over just 5 days the movie made $35 million making it the most successful rom com since 2015’s Trainwreck.
The movie has seriously slayed the box office so much so that The Hollywood Reporter reported TO-DAY that A Crazy Rich Asians sequel is in the works with the same director as the first movie Jon M. Chu. The second movie will be based on Kevin Kwan’s second book “China Rich Girlfriend” and the first movie’s original team of producers will be on the sequel as well. Now, Warner Brothers hasn’t officially green-lit the sequel but they are starting to develop it. And in fact, Warner brothers has a deal with Kevin Kwan for 2 more movies actually based on his books China Rich Girlfriend like I mentioned and Rich People Problems. Now I won’t tell you how the movie ends because no one likes a spoiler, but I will tell you if you haven’t seen the movie yet, there’s a mid-credits scene which we’re used to seeing in Marvel Movies, that basically teases a second movie. Let’s just hope most of the original cast comes back for the sequel but we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m personally so happy this movie is doing well because it’s helping open the doors for inclusivity in Hollywood. And its brining back rom-com’s which I feel like is a genre Hollywood has been ignoring for a while.
