The move by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to instruct another re-election of the DAP's central executive committee was intended to sabotage the party's 14th general election preparations, party leaders said today.
"Making this statement four years later is intended to cripple our party's administration and it jeopardises our preparation for GE14," DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng told reporters during a press conference at the party headquarters after an emergency meeting of the CEC.
"We have yet to receive an official letter from the ROS conveying their decision to us," he added.
Lim also insisted that the issue of fresh election should not arise as the party had conducted one on Sept 29, 2013, according to the ROS' original directive.
The ROS had in a statement yesterday instructed DAP to hold a fresh election for its CEC.
ROS director-general Mohammad Razin Abdullah had said the decision was made after ROS found that DAP's earlier re-election held on Sept 29, 2013, was not in accordance with the law.
