Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is not the owner of Dataran Merdeka, as the government has claimed, according to lawyer New Sin Yew.

Earlier Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and the police said that organisers of an anti-corruption rally this Saturday need permission from the property owner, citing the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA).
