Dean Lewis, is an Australian singer and songwriter from Sydney. Before the ‘Be Alright’ singer decided to release his own music, he worked as a sound engineer and would help set up live shows for other artists. Lewis says his inspirations for creating music came from watching a live Oasis DVD in 2005 and since then says he spent the next five years watching their videos and listening to their songs. Lewis claims the lead singer, Noel Gallagher helped teach him how to write his own songs. With his love for singing and songwriting, Lewis stayed out of the spotlight and was writing over 80 songs for other artists. He found writing music for others was unfulfilling and decided to take on a music career of his own. In 2014, Lewis signed a recording contract with Specific Music and another major contract with Island Records and Universal Music Australia in 2016. Following then, Lewis released his single “Waves” in September of 2016, which has since been certified Platinum. Lewis has since become best known for his single “Be Alright” which became an international hit, surpassing a billion streams.
