Demi Lovato Celebrates 90 Days Sober After Overdose

Demi Lovato has hit a huge milestone in her sobriety quest and the world could not be more proud.
Demi Lovato’s mom is giving us a much-needed update on how the singer is doing three months after overdosing.
Demi Lovato has kept an extremely low profile ever since she checked into rehab back in August following a drug overdose that almost killed her. The “Sober” singer did look to be in good spirits when she was photographed outside the treatment center last month and I’m SO happy to report that she has officially reached 90 days of sobriety.
Demi’s mom, Dianna De La Garza, did an interview on Maria Menounos’ Sirius XM podcast and reveals QUOTE “She has 90 days. I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it’s work. It’s very hard. It’s not easy, and there are no shortcuts.”
Dianna says she knew Demi was no longer sober in the weeks that led up to the overdose, but QUOTE “can’t really say for sure” what triggered it.
She explains QUOTE “I didn’t know what she was doing because she doesn’t live with me and she’s 26.”
The cause of the overdose doesn’t really matter, however, as learning of it still remains one of the most terrifying things Demi’s family has ever had to go through. Here’s what Dianna had to say of hearing the horrible news:
“The one text message that clued me in on what was going on said, ‘I just saw on TMZ and I’m so sorry.’ Before I could get to TMZ, I got the phone call from her assistant and she said, ‘We’re at the hospital.’ So then I knew, okay, she’s not gone. She’s here. And I said, ‘What’s going on?’ And the words that I heard are just a nightmare for any parent: ‘Demi overdosed.'”
Earlier this month, Demi’s younger sister Madison also gave an update on the singer’s condition and said QUOTE “she’s doing really well… working really hard on her sobriety.”
All these updates really prove that Demi is doing everything she can to reach sobriety once again. Being sober for 90 days is a HUGE deal and she should be incredibly proud of herself for achieving this milestone.
