In the light of the Election Commission's announcement that the polling date will take place on Wednesday, May 9, Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr. Mahathir Mohamad voiced out and called the selection of a weekday for the polling date "undemocratic".
He explained that it deprived citizens of their right to vote as most people would be working and those who are abroad, such as the some 500,000 Malaysians working in Singapore, will not be able to return to cast their vote.
