Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today that Bersatu, and not the palace, has the right to select the new Johor menteri besar.
Mahathir was responding to a question if he or Johor ruler, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, would choose the new menteri besar.
Yesterday, Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim said it is the prerogative of the sultan to appoint the menteri besar. The post fell vacant following the resignation of Bersatu's Osman Sapian on Monday.
