Newly-appointed Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik, who will helm the newly merged Education Ministry and Higher Education Ministry, responds to recent criticism relating to his religious leanings. His appointment had sparked debates, especially regarding his purported support of controversial preacher Dr Zakir Naik. In an interview with Malaysiakini, Dr Maszlee clarified that he only supported Dr Zakir’s right to freedom of speech and not his alleged preaching of hatred.
