Injecting a rhino’s horn with red dye may seem radical – but this is the extreme lengths conservationists have gone to save the endangered animal. The Rhino Rescue Project in South Africa are purposefully infusing the horn with dye and toxin to make it useless as commercial goods and toxic for human consumption. They believe this will deter merciless poachers from hunting the animals to sell the horn for aesthetic or medicinal purposes.
